Artist EL carefully selects images from multiple media sources to begin her work. Subject matter is important but even more so is the consideration of color and hue. The selected shapes are painstakingly separated from their backgrounds using precision surgical scissors and razors to create the exact edges so necessary for this art form. Singular images often take hours to extract and entire pieces may require months of search and preparation before the Entrelacer process may be started.

Entrelacer (on-tray-lay-say), from the French for 'entwine', requires far more 'hands on' time than the layered 'cut and paste' technique so often used in traditional collage or the newer digital 'photoshopping'. The entrelacer technique is an exquisite interlacing of all the component pieces into a flowing, integrated work of art featuring the complex merging of fantasy images blended with rich and vibrant color. This 'weaving' of the pieces together is extremely difficult and true entrelacer work is characterized by this meticulous handcrafting.
Collectors of El's art are continually intrigued and challenged by the seamless quality of her work. It is difficult to identify the individual images that make up the whole. All works are composed of at least fifty separate pieces and many are double that. The assembly process may stretch for months before El's steady hands bring all of the components together to her exacting standards and unique vision. The hallmark of this astounding process is her painstaking blending of scores of pieces into a singular work of extraordinary interest and beauty.

Once
the work is complete the piece is scanned at high resolution to ensure
accurate production of canvasses and paper prints via the Giclee print
process. With this technique, high quality artist's pigments are
applied to museum archival quality canvasses and paper to render superb
duplicates comparable to the finest lithographs. The superior
materials ensure your particular piece will hold its high definition
and exquisite bright color in excess of 100 years.
Additionally
the artist has limited production of her work to ensure the integrity
and value of your investment. Each piece is personally signed and
numbered by the artist. Once the allowed production is run the
original work is retired and archived.
El
elevates entrelacer art to its highest level imbuing each wonderfully
crafted piece with her personal style. Her pieces commonly evoke
strong emotional response from the observer that is unique to her
vision. Collectors can look forward to years of enjoyment as new
subtleties are continually revealed with each viewing. A work of
entrelacer by El remains ever fresh and new for years into the future.
